This is my list of softwares that I use and may be useful for you too, or are worth checking out at least.

Operating System (Linux Distros)

Arch Linux

"Arch Linux is a versatile, and simple distribution designed to fit the needs of the competent Linux® user. It is both powerful and easy to manage, making it an ideal distro for servers and workstations. Take it in any direction you like. If you share this vision of what a GNU/Linux distribution should be, then you are welcomed and encouraged to use it freely, get involved, and contribute to the community."

This is my primary system right now, is a DIY, rolling release, bleeding edge distro, you will have a bit of work to install it manually, I do not recommend you to use an installer the first time, since for this type of OS it is good to know how it works, as it is expected that you will be able to solve your own problems.

NixOS

"Nix is a tool that takes a unique approach to package management and system configuration. Learn how to make reproducible, declarative and reliable systems."

Another "hard to use system", in addition to being a very stable system, with probably the largest repository of all linux distros, it can be easily reproduced, is focused on developers, all system settings are stored in one file, one of only distros that, for me, can compete with Arch, the main work you will have in this distro is to learn the configuration syntax, in this distro, to get the newest packages you have to use the unstable channel.

Desktop Environment/Tiling Window Manager

Hyprland

"A dynamic tiling Wayland compositor based on wlroots that doesn't sacrifice on its looks."

My TWM of choice, customizable, beautiful and powerful, but is pretty minimal and very new, don't use in your primary machine.

Gnome

"Get things done with ease, comfort, and control."

My DE of choice, is perfect if you just want to get things done.

KDE Plasma

"A beautiful environment that adapts to your needs."

Gnome's biggest competitor, much more focused on customization.

Graphic Design

GIMP

"Whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or scientist, GIMP provides you with sophisticated tools to get your job done."

My image editor of choice.

Krita

"Krita is a professional FREE and open source painting program. It is made by artists that want to see affordable art tools for everyone."

My painting software of choice.

LibreSprite

"LibreSprite is a free and open source program for creating and animating your sprites."

Basically the open-source aseprite, I use for pixel art.

Office Suites

LibreOffice

"LibreOffice is a free and powerful office suite, and a successor to OpenOffice.org (commonly known as OpenOffice)."

My secondary office suite (microsoft format compatibility still not perfect), pretty powerful.

OnlyOffice

"All the tools you need to work with text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and fillable forms on Windows, Linux, and macOS."

My office suite of choice.
